PhD Introductory Event

Are you just starting your PhD? Make sure to sign up for the PhD Introductory Events!

In January 2026 we will launch the new one-day programme, looking forward to seeing you there!

The Introductory event should be attended within the first 6 months of the start of your PhD to be of real use to you. Participation will earn you 1.0 ECTS. Welcome on board!

Are you curious what it means to take your research from the lab to market? Join us at MXT, where Giovanna Maglia, Hedderik van Rijn, and Romana Schirhagl share their experience with just this journey, before we move on to the Launch Game, where we simulate that same journey in a 90 minute game.


MXT stands for Move Forward with Tech and is the annual cross-tech conference held during ESNS on January 14-15 in Groningen. It brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and tech enthusiasts to explore the convergence of innovation and technology through meaningful connections. It’s a place for networking, innovation, and collaboration.

Unleash your innovative spirit with our fantastic Extracurricular Course on Entrepreneurship, available for bachelor, master, and PhD students, and post-docs. Over five Monday evenings, dive headfirst into the dynamic world of entrepreneurship through engaging and interactive sessions that blend theory with real-world applications. From crafting a killer business idea to learning about how to finance this road, this course is your first introduction to entrepreneurship.

●      PhD Day 2026 – From Surviving to Thriving

 

Date: Friday, 23 January 2026Location: Feringa Building, University of Groningen

PhD Day is the largest annual career and development event for PhD candidates in the Northern Netherlands. Organized in collaboration with the University of Groningen, it brings together over 500 PhD candidates to explore career paths during and after their PhD.

This year’s theme, From Surviving to Thriving, focuses on resilience, adaptability, and personal growth in research. The program includes keynote lectures, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities. Participants can earn 1 ECTS credit for attending.
