Elections? But I just started…

My name is Alva and I am the PhD scholarship student in the FSE Faculty Council. You may have voted for me last year to be your representative! I am now at half of my term - in the third cycle of the council - and getting more and more into how this role works. Until now, we have discussed and approved the Long Term Budget (that is done every year), discussed protocols for extension requests in case of pregnancy (also for PhDs) and many more topics related to student-staff ratio, new tenure track positions, etc. If you are curious about what we did more in detail you can check out the Faculty Council Newsletters and updates. I am looking forward to seeing what topics will come up in the second half of the term.

It is February, again, and election time is about to kick off. This means, it is time to start looking for new members of the student fraction of the FSE Faculty Council. The list of candidates needs to be created as early as possible to be ready when elections start in March.

As you might remember from last year, students are elected every year, while staff only every two years. So this is a call for all PhD scholarship students who are interested in joining the Faculty Council for a year from September 2022 to August 2023. If you are interested please contact us (phdcouncil.fse@rug.nl), we will be more than happy to answer all your questions and give you as much info as possible on the tasks of a Council member.
